Getting to Inverness

Take a Ship Organised Tour

Check the itinerary in detail though. Many tours pass through Inverness or make a short photo stop.

The Inverness On Your Own options give you the longest time in Inverness but these are transfers so don’t expect a commentary on the bus there and back.

Take Public Transport

You can take a public bus from Invergordon High Street, or from right outside the cruise port. The bus right outside the cruise port runs express from the port to Invergordon and while it may be a little bit more expensive it is worth it. This bus is laid on for cruise ship visitors.

There is a train service between Invergordon and Inverness. The train station is less than 10 minutes walk from the cruise terminal.

Whatever transport you take ensure you allow plenty of time. Public transport can be exceptionally busy in the Highlands during the summer months. Buses to and from Invergordon can be full during busy cruise ship calls meaning you won’t be able to board.

Have a back up plan in case.

Take a Private Taxi

There are always taxis available at Invergordon Port. Just turn right when you disembark the boat and you will find a taxi office on the right as you pass out of the main security gate.

Taxis will be around £50 per hour.

If you plan to get a taxi back from Inverness to Invergordon it is best to book it in advance as otherwise you may have difficulty getting one.
