The Mercure Inverness
Does Mercure Inverness Have a Gym?
The Mercure Inverness hotel does not have a gym. I think this went when they did a refurbishment of the hotel a couple of years ago.

What I Like About This Hotel
The Mercure Inverness has a great location in the city centre with everything on your doorstep. Parking is also available at the hotel too.
Mercure Inverness

Getting to the Inverness Mercure Hotel
The easiest way to reach the Mercure Hotel Inverness is to head for Bank Street and access the hotel via the car park if you are travelling by car.
If you are travelling on foot then the entrance on Church Street is easier to access.
Both entrances have lifts to reception (from Bank Street) and to the rooms from Church Street.
Mercure Hotel Inverness Parking
There is parking on site at the Mercure Hotel. It is operated by a separate company so guests do need to pay to park.
The overnight charge is £12 per night.
The parking is quite limited for the size of the hotel and some of the spaces can be very tight to get in and out of.
There is public parking available at Rose Street car park which is two blocks away from the hotel.

The hotel has the following facilities and services available for guests;
- Free WIFI
- Restaurant serving meals including breakfast
- Bar
- Room service
- Lift to all floors
- Accessible rooms
- Dog friendly rooms (these are generally in the Classic Doubles which are a bit smaller)

Mercure Hotel Inverness
Bedrooms
All bedrooms have tea and coffee facilities, a desk, free WIFI and powerful showers.
There are several types of room available at the Mercure Hotel in Inverness;
- Compact – generally doubles, these are quite small so perhaps best for 1 person or 2 people who get on very well
- Classic – double or twin bedded room with walk in shower
- Prestige Rooms – these are much larger rooms with city or river views
Little Tip from Me: The rooms that overlook the city centre/old town area are likely to experience some noise during evenings, especially at weekends as there are several bars in this area

What’s Nearby
The Mercure Inverness is right in the city centre so there is lots of things available right on the doorstep.
Things to Do and Places to Visit
The Victorian Market is a good option on a dreich day. There is a food hall inside alongwith some smaller independent shops, it just across the street from the hotel.
The Eastgate shopping centre is around 0.5 miles from the hotel.
Inverness Museum is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. It’s a free museum with a small cafe inside it.
The open top bus runs from the Inverness bus station during the tourist months. This can be a good way to reach Dochgarroch where you can take a cruise on Loch Ness if you don’t have your own transport.
Leakeys is in the same street as the Mercure Hotel. It’s a large secondhand bookshop, located in an old church. It’s well worth visiting if you love books.
Eden Court Theatre and Cinema is down by the river side. They always have something interesting on. The cinema has the comfiest seats. In August they have free events running every evening, usually with some sort of street food available.

Places to Eat and Drink
There are so many places in an around the city centre so here are a few of my personal favourites.
The Black Isle Bar – this is located in Church Street, where the Mercure is. It’s a local brewery that does organic beer and wood fired pizzas. It is dog friendly and they also have a lovely roof terrace.
Miele’s Gelato is also in Church Street. It’s a family owned business that does fresh gelato with ever changing flavours.
The Victorian Market has a nice food hall. Ideal if you want to eat different things. They often have live music during the weekend.
The Highland Street Food Trail has trucks located down by Inverness river and the Cathedral. There is seating beside the Cathedral too.
Xoko Inverness is my favourite bakery. It’s located just opposite the top of Church Street, below the museum. The food is amazing. They will also be opening a cafe at Inverness Cathedral (the cafe is located in a separate building behind the Cathedral)
Uile Bheist – this is a distillery and brewery located together at the Glen Mhor Hotel beside the river in Inverness. You can book guided tours which include tastings too of course.
Also Nearby
- There is a small Co-Op shop in Church Street that also has an ATM
- There are all sorts of shops in the High Street are of Inverness, as well as more banks, and a Marks and Spencers which also has a nice food hall
Mercure Inverness – Conclusion
- The Mercure is good if you want to be beside the river (bear in mind that you will likely have to pay more for a river view
- It’s a good option if you want parking and also want to stay in the city centre
- It’s also a great dog friendly city centre option
- If you are travelling by public transport it’s within easy reach of the bus and train station
- Demand for this hotel can mean that prices can be quite high at peak times so booking in advance or travelling out of season is essential to get the best deals.
A good choice if you want parking in Inverness and want to be by the river
