Azerbaijan ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

Azerbaijan is located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia.

As such it has a diverse culture and rich history. It’s known for it’s amazing landscapes, ancient architecture and hospitable people.

The capital of Azerbaijan is Baku which sits beside the Caspian Sea. It’s an amazing city that has futuristic buildings alongside historic buildings such as caravanserei.

The Old City is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The city is also home to the iconic Flame Towers, three skyscrapers that dominate the skyline and are illuminated with LED lights at night.

Outside of Baku, Azerbaijan offers plenty to explore. The country is known for its natural beauty, including the mud volcanoes of Gobustan National Park and the picturesque mountain villages of Sheki. There are many thermal areas to enjoy as well.

Azerbaijan has a rich cultural heritage that blends influences from Persia, Turkey, and Russia. Traditional Azerbaijani music features instruments such as the tar (a long-necked lute) and kamancha (a type of fiddle), while Azerbaijani cuisine includes dishes like plov (rice pilaf) and dolma (stuffed grape leaves).

Azerbaijan is not busy with tourists and it feels a bit off the radar and undiscovered.

It hosts a Formula 1 GP when it receives lots of visitors.

I visited after seeing it on the Grand Tour car show. It looked unlike anywhere else I had been and it certainly was!
