Frequently Asked Questions

Which Edinburgh Airport lounge is best for nervous flyers?

The Plaza Premium Lounge (Turkish Airlines Lounge) and the Escape Lounge are the best options for nervous flyers. They both have room for quiet corners where you can be calm and relaxed before your flight.

How early should nervous flyers arrive at Edinburgh Airport?

Arrive at least 2-3 hours before your flight. This gives you plenty of time to check in without rushing, pass through security at a relaxed pace, and spend time in the lounge to decompress before boarding.

Can I access Edinburgh Airport lounges if I have a fear of flying?

Absolutely. Airport lounges are open to anyone with the right access method—whether through Priority Pass, airline status, credit card benefits, or by purchasing day passes. They’re specifically designed to provide a calm, stress-free environment before flying.

What calming facilities do Edinburgh Airport lounges offer?

Lounges at Edinburgh Airport offer quiet seating areas, complimentary food and drinks (including calming herbal teas), comfortable chairs, power outlets for distraction through devices, and panoramic runway views that help familiarize nervous flyers with the airport operations

Is there somewhere quiet at Edinburgh Airport for anxious passengers?

Yes, the airport lounges provide the quietest spaces. The Plaza Premium Lounge has a designated quiet area, while all lounges offer a much calmer atmosphere than the busy departure gates with reduced noise and crowds.

Can I buy alcohol in Edinburgh Airport lounges to calm my nerves?

While lounges offer complimentary alcoholic beverages, it’s worth noting that alcohol can actually increase anxiety and dehydration during flights. Many nervous flyers find herbal teas, water, and light snacks more helpful for managing pre-flight anxiety.

What should I do in the lounge to manage flight anxiety?

Try these calming activities: settle into a quiet corner with runway views to familiarize yourself with plane movements, practice deep breathing exercises, stay hydrated with water or herbal tea, use noise-cancelling headphones with calming music, read or watch something engaging, and avoid checking flight tracking apps obsessively

  • ✅ Bring noise-cancelling headphones or a meditation app
  • ✅ Use the airline app to be notified directly of boarding and gate details
  • ✅ Have a little calm kit – chewing gum, snacks for the plane, something absorbing to watch and/or listen to
