The Algarve
The Algarve in Portugal is a very popular holiday destination and with good reason.
It’s great value, with stunning beaches and a lovely coastline to explore.
Getting there from the UK is easy and affordable.
The temperatures in October are around 23 degrees in October with an average of 7 hours sunshine a day.
It’s perfect for soaking up some summer rays, without being uncomfortably hot.
Even better you can be there in around 3 hours if you are flying from the UK.
The Algarve is somewhere I have been lucky enough to visit several times. I’ve visited with tour groups and also for personal holidays.
Personally I prefer to avoid the busy resort of Albufeira.
I’ve enjoyed holidays in Vilamoura and Monte Gordo, as well as stays at the lovely Vidamar Resort Hotel too.
It’s very easy to explore the Algarve in a rental car.
If you want to visit Lisbon you can easily take a train from Faro in the Algarve. Why not have a twin centre holiday for the best of both worlds?

Cape Verde
Cape Verde are 10 volcanic islands set off the West Coast of Africa.
They have consistent year round temperatures of around 26-30 degrees.
The islands are an interesting mix of Portueguse and Creole influences.
The islands sit in the Atlantic Ocean directly west from Dakar in Senegal. Their slightly more exposed located means they can get more of the winds than the Canary Islands for example.
This can make travelling by ferry quite difficult – one of the ferries is called the ‘vomit express’ because of how choppy the journey is.
Travelling between the islands is not as structured and easy as in the Canaries. Ferry times are not necessarily fixed. While there are flight options these are a bit more limited.
Here they are in order of size from largest to smallest;
Santiago

Maio
