Best Luton Airport Lounge for Travellers with Additional Needs

Check out my post about the best Luton Airport Lounge for travellers with additional needs. It’s based on my experience of travelling with a family member on the autism spectrum, but it also considers travellers with mobility issues too.

In this article I am going to go through the differences between the two lounges at Luton Airport so you can find the one that suits your needs best.

My family member and I visit airport lounges using my Priority Pass membership. As a Standard Plus Member I get 10 visits including with my membership which works out to £20.60 per visit – better value than an airport meal!

  • I’ve flown in and out of Edinburgh Airport over 70 times in the last 4 years so I know it quite well. I’ve also visited every pay as you go airport lounge. (There are affiliate links on my website – I only recommend things I use) Check out my About Me page and my Editorial Policy.

Why Airport Lounges Are Great for Travellers with Additional Needs

Airports can be stressful places for travellers, whether they have additional needs or not. My family member has autism and finds airports overwhelming due to the sensory overload. Here’s why lounges are really helpful;

  • Quiet spaces away from the busy terminal with all it’s noise and announcements
  • Comfortable seating and relaxed layout
  • Free refreshments – free food is always a great distraction!
  • Flight information screens so you can see boarding and gate info easily
  • Quieter toilets
  • Limited capacity – lounges restrict the overall number of guests.

I’ve visited both airport lounges at Luton Airport when it was extremely busy. Even though the lounges themselves were busy they were still a much more comfortable option than being out in a crowded, noisy terminal building on uncomfortable seats.

Luton Airport Lounges – Quick Overview

Luton Airport only has two paid entry airport lounges. This means they are more likely than not to be busy because of the amount of demand for lounge access. Neither of the lounges have airplane or runway views.

  • No 1 Lounge (Gate 17) – this lounge is smaller than the No 1 Lounge in many other airports. As such it has a slightly smaller buffet menu. There is a range of seating options available in the lounge from sofas to dining tables and a workbench.
  • My Lounge – this lounge is on the upper level with a reception on the ground floor next to Accessorize. There is a lift or stairs. It’s a less formal lounge with a homey feel. It has a family room and a games room. The food menu is a bit more limited with chicken or mushroom gyros as the main food option.

All three lounges accept Priority Pass, DragonPass and LoungePair+ memberships.

Quick Business Lounge Cost Comparison

  • During one airport visit I checked the costs of eating in the airport. If I went to Wetherspoons and had their cheapest main meal with a beer the cost would be £15.00. Compare that to using one of my Priority Pass Standard Plus Membership included visits which works out to £20.60 for each visit.
  • That means I get a much better environment for working and relaxing, with faster WIFI, unlimited hot and cold food and unlimited drinks (within safe flying limits) for only £5.60 extra. That makes Priority Pass great value.
