There are more Inverness to Gatwick connections thanks to EasyJet flying from Inverness two to four times a day. That makes it the most flexible way to string together a cheap trip. Fly down early, catch a sunshine flight, and come home on the evening flight a week later.
Inverness to Gatwick Connections
Flights From Inverness to Gatwick
EasyJet’s usual pattern gives you a choice through the day:
- Early morning (around 7am), perfect for connecting onto a lunchtime flight to the sun
- Afternoon (around 3pm and 4.45pm)
- Evening (around 7.30pm), handy for a night in London or near the airport
Coming home, there’s usually a later flight from Gatwick on Monday to Thursday evenings, leaving around 7.30pm and back in Inverness for about 9pm. That means you can fly out from Luton and home via Gatwick, whichever is cheapest.
For winter time I like the afternoon flight a night in Gatwick as opposed to a night near the airport the day before – it also means I can park the car easily and avoid the hefty Inverness Airport parking charges.
Times change every season, so check the Easyjet schedule for the latest times.
Where Can You Get to From Gatwick?
Gatwick is EasyJet’s biggest base, and Jet2, TUI, British Airways and plenty of others fly from there too. It’s brilliant for:
- Winter sun: the Canaries, Madeira, Cyprus, Egypt, Morocco
- Summer sun: the Algarve, Spain, the Greek islands, Croatia, Turkey
- City breaks: almost every European capital, plus Christmas markets in winter
A real example from my deals: Inverness to Luton for £17, Luton to Faro for £23, home via Gatwick for about £62. That’s around £100 return to 18–20°C in November.
Which Terminal?
Gatwick has two terminals, North and South.
EasyJet flights from Inverness use the North Terminal and infact most Easyjet flights are to and from the North Terminal.
If your next flight goes from the South Terminal follow the exit signs, when you get past the coffee shop you will see a lift on your right hand side. Take this up to the shuttle train. You can also take the stairs up to the shuttle train – just continue walking straight ahead and the stairs are on your right.
The shuttle train journey takes under 5 minutes. Shuttle times vary due to demand with generally no longer than a 10 minute wait.
Self-Connecting at Gatwick
The same golden rules as Luton apply:
- Leave at least three hours, and more if you’re changing terminals or travelling in winter.
- Hand luggage only if you can.
- Insurance that covers missed connections.
- The night before for anything you can’t miss, like a cruise or a tour.
Gatwick to London (and the Eurostar)
Skip the overpriced Gatwick Express.
Local trains take you to London Bridge, Victoria and right through to St Pancras for the Eurostar, and they take about the same time as from Luton, around 1 hour 20 minutes to St Pancras.
You don’t need a ticket or an Oyster card. Tap in with your contactless card or phone at the airport station and tap out when you arrive. It works on the tube, too.
London Bridge is perfect for the South Bank
Why not combine travelling with a bit of sightseeing and use the Thames riverboats. They are ideal for connecting anywhere along the river. They take contactless as well.
It’s one of my favourite ways to see London.

The Best Lounges at Gatwick
I’ve visited all the pay-to-use lounges at Gatwick. You can only use lounges in the terminal you’re flying from, so here’s the short version:
North Terminal (EasyJet)
| Lounge | My verdict | Rough walk-in price |
|---|---|---|
| Plaza Premium | My favourite: spacious, light, runway views, best for working | £36 |
| No1 Lounge | The most popular, runway views, can be noisy, so pre-book | £45 |
| Clubrooms | VIP treat with table service, but no views | £44 |
| My Lounge | Cosy café feel, but limited food, especially for vegetarians | £34 |
South Terminal
| Lounge | My verdict |
|---|---|
| Club Aspire | My favourite, and quieter than the others |
| No1 Lounge | Warm and welcoming, plenty of space and light |
| My Lounge | The only outdoor terrace at Gatwick, but short opening hours |
| Clubrooms | Table service, and the booking includes premium security |
With my Priority Pass membership, each visit works out at about £20.60.
For occassional use Loungepair for access – their passes are great value and they can be refundable too

Where To Stay at Gatwick
For an early flight, I like the Sofitel at the North Terminal. It’s connected to the terminal by a walkway, so you can roll out of bed and onto your plane. The beds are really comfortable. My tip: avoid the atrium-view rooms, which are noisy, and the blinds don’t give you much privacy.
The Premier Inn is also handy as it connected to the terminal as well.
