Are you wondering which of the airport lounges at Gatwick North Terminal is best for your visit?

I’ve visited them all so I know the pros and cons of each lounge, plus all the things you need to know about each lounge.

Gatwick North is a busy terminal and using a lounge makes it a much calmer and quieter experience. You can easily access all the airport lounges with pay as you go access or using a membership scheme if you are going to use lounges regularly.

I used my Priority Pass membership when visiting these lounges in Gatwick Airport. My Standard Plus Membership, with my reader discount, means that each lounge visit worked out at £20.60 – this makes access better value than an airport meal!

Gatwick North Terminal Lounges

There are 6 airport lounges at the Gatwick North Terminal.

One lounge, Emirates, is accessible only via your airline ticket.

Generally, this means that if you are flying business or first class with Emirates, or you have a membership with Emirates at a certain level, you can access their lounge.

You cannot buy access to the Emirates airline lounge.

You can guy access on a pay as you basis which is best for occassional airport lounge use.

For more regular access an airport lounge membership is the best value way to upgrade your airport experience.

How to Buy Access to London Gatwick North Terminal Lounges

There are various ways to buy lounge access including;

Buy access on the Gatwick Airport website
Buy access through the airport lounge operator directly (links are in the description of each individual lounge)
Buy through an online site such as Holidayextras and get a good online deal for occassional lounge access.
Access via an airport lounge membership scheme such as Priority Pass. The cost to enter depends on your membership level.

Little Tip from Me: If you are going to be using an airport lounge more than 3 times a year then an airport lounge pass, such as Priority Pass is going to be better value than buying access each time you visit

Lounge Gatwick North Terminal

Location of Gatwick Airport Lounges

All the lounges at Gatwick North Terminal lounges are located together in the lounge suite or pavilion as it is sometimes called.

Once you pass through security and then through the winding road that goes through duty-free you will come into the main part of the departures hall in the Gatwick North terminal area.

This is the large open area where you will see many different shops and restaurants.

Head towards the left. You will pass various shops and then see an escalator and a WHSmith at the bottom of it.

You will also see a sign for ‘lounges’.

The entrance to the lounge suite is just past the escalator on the right hand side.

My Lounge and No1 Lounges are on the ground floor.
The Plaza Premium Lounge and the Plaza Express are on the first floor.
The Clubrooms is down one floor from ground level.

Airport Lounges at Gatwick North Terminal

No 1 Lounge

The No1 Lounge is the most popular lounge at the Gatwick North Terminal. That means it can often be quite busy and sometimes a little noisy.

Towards the end of the day as things are quieting down they start to close various parts of the lounge to keep everyone in the main lounge area.

Given how busy this lounge gets I would highly recommend booking access to this lounge to guarantee entry. I booked access through my Priority Pass membership which cost an additional £6. This guaranteed my access even at peak times.

The No1 Lounge is open from 4 am to 9 pm Daily
No 1 Lounge is at the far end of the airport lounge corridor.

No 1 Lounge Services and Facilities

I love the airport runway views from the huge floor to ceiling windows and corner lounge
Large screen TV (I once watched an England World Cup match here which was a great experience)
Toilets within the lounge area
Hot and cold buffet running throughout the day with 2 or 3 hot dishes available, soup and snacks
Full bar service with a wide range of alchoholic, soft and hot drinks available
Variety of seating options including sofas, tables and chairs, work desk areas and dining tables
Library area restricted to over 12’s (this closes earlier, on my most recent visit it closed at 4.30 pm)

Airport Lounges in Gatwick North

My Lounge Gatwick North Terminal

The My Lounge at Gatwick is the first lounge in the lounge pavillion area. It’s an informal more relaxed type of lounge.

I like the My Lounge in terms of style and seating, but I find the food options limited, especially as a vegetarian. If you want a comfortable lounge, with some fun additions like games tables and aren’t too worried about food then the My Lounge is a great choice.

Open 4 am to 8 pm Daily
(MyLounge is operated by No1 Lounges. During the winter months the hours are variable – if they have no bookings they will close the lounge completely or close early. On my two recent visits to Gatwick this lounge has been closed each time).
My Lounge feels more like a cosy and welcoming cafe/restaurant.
There is a mix of seating, everything from sofas to cafe-style tables.

The Plaza Premium Lounge is a spacious, light and bright lounge on the first floor with great views of the runway and the airport apron.
It’s open from 4 am to 8 pm daily.

Lounge Gatwick North Terminal

Plaza Express

The Plaza Express is, as the name implies, an express lounge option.
The maximum stay in this lounge is 2 hours, with a 1.5-hour option being available too.
Its advertised hours are 5 am to 4 pm.
(This lounge hasn’t been open during my visits to Gatwick. I suspect it’s not open unless there are bookings, with guests being diverted to the Plaza Premium Lounge instead)

Clubrooms North

Clubrooms North is a premium airport lounge option.
All food and drink is served to your table and the food is served restaurant style rather than a buffet.
The food menu is more extensive, as is the drinks menu, with more premium drink options included.
The Clubrooms are open from 6 am to 6 pm daily
Clubrooms is a premium lounge service. There is an additional fee to enter Clubrooms with Priority Pass. You can book and pay this online and it guarantees your entry.
Premium security is included for anyone booking Clubrooms.

Do you need a hotel at Gatwick Airport?

My favourite hotel at the North Terminal is the Sofitel. It’s connected by a walkway and has lovely comfy beds. You might want to avoid atrium view rooms as the noise can travel up the atrium and you can’t have your window blinds open (unless you want everyone to see you in your jim jams)
