EasyJet bag sizes at a glance
An EasyJet hold bag has no fixed length, width or height. Its length, width and depth added together must come to under 275cm, and no single bag can weigh more than 32kg.
I fly easyJet a lot and I’m a bit of a luggage geek, so here is every size and weight limit in one place, checked against easyJet’s own rules in October 2026.

EasyJet Free Cabin Bag Size: 45 x 36 x 20cm
Every EasyJet fare includes one small cabin bag of up to 45 x 36 x 20cm and 15kg. It must fit under the seat in front of you, and you must be able to lift and carry it yourself.
- The size includes wheels and handles, so measure the outside of the case, not the packing space.
- Staff check sizes before boarding. A bag that is too big goes in the hold and you pay a charge.
- There is no separate personal item. A handbag or laptop bag has to fit inside your one small bag through security and the gate.
- You can also carry an umbrella, an overcoat, crutches or a walking stick, and one standard bag of shopping bought at the airport.
My tip: I keep a small travel document holder in the front pocket of my under-seat case. Passport, boarding pass, cards and earphones are all in one place, and I lift it out once I’m in my seat.

Easyjet Large Cabin Size: 56 x 45 x 25cm
The large cabin bag can be up to 56 x 45 x 25cm and 15kg, including wheels and handles. It goes in the overhead locker, and booking one also gets you Speedy Boarding.
You can bring one if you:
- add a large cabin bag to your booking, or
- book a fare that includes one (Inclusive Plus), or
- are an easyJet Plus member.
easyJet Plus members and Inclusive Plus customers who haven’t pre-booked the bag can bring it subject to locker space. If the lockers are full, it goes in the hold free of charge.
Choosing an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat does not include a large cabin bag. Turn up at the gate with one you haven’t booked and easyJet charges £60 to put it in the hold.

Easyjet Hold Luggage Size and Weight
EasyJet sells hold bags by weight, not by size. You choose a 15kg or 23kg bag and can add extra weight online in 3kg steps, up to 32kg per bag.

The 275cm rule
Every hold bag must measure under 275cm when you add its length, width and depth together. There is no separate limit on each side.
For example, a case measuring 80 x 50 x 30cm adds up to 160cm, well within the limit. Most large suitcases sold in the UK come in far below 275cm, so weight is almost always the limit you hit first.
How Many Hold Bags Can You Take?
Each passenger, including children and infants, can book up to three hold bags. They can be different weights.
Sharing Weight With Your Travel Companions
If you’re on the same booking and the same flight, you can pool your weight allowance. Two people with a 23kg bag each have 46kg between them, which can be split across the bags in any way, as long as no single bag goes over 32kg.
You cannot pool weight between hold bags and sports equipment.
Twilight Bag Drop
At several airports, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Gatwick, Luton, Manchester and Bristol, you can drop your bags off the evening before an early morning flight. It’s free, but parking rules vary by airport, so check easyJet’s hold luggage page for the times at yours.
Smart Luggage
If your case has a built-in battery or power bank, you must remove it at Bag Drop and carry it in the cabin. If it can’t be removed, the bag won’t be accepted in the hold.
Children, mobility aids, sports kit and instruments
Travelling with children and infants
Children over two, and infants with their own seat, get the same cabin and hold allowance as adults. An infant on your lap gets an extra changing bag of up to 45 x 36 x 20cm, which also goes under the seat.
For every infant or child, you can also bring up to two of these free of charge:
- travel cot
- pushchair, double pushchair or buggy
- car seat or booster seat
- collapsible or non-collapsible pram
- baby back carrier

Mobility Equipment
Anyone who needs them can take up to two items of mobility equipment free of charge, such as a wheelchair, mobility scooter, walking frame or crutches. Heavy scooters need approval in advance, and there are strict rules on batteries. I’d strongly advise booking special assistance as early as you can.
Sports Equipment
Skis, golf bags, bikes, surfboards and similar items travel in the hold as sports equipment, booked on the hold luggage page. Small items go up to 20kg and large items up to 32kg. Prices change by flight, so I’ve covered them in my easyJet baggage costs guide.
Musical Instruments
A small instrument that fits within 45 x 36 x 20cm can replace your free under-seat bag. Anything up to 56 x 45 x 25cm needs a paid large cabin bag. Bigger instruments either go in the hold or need their own seat, which can only be a window seat. Check the musical instruments rules before you book.
Medicines and Restricted Items
Medicines over 100ml can travel in the cabin with a letter from your doctor. I always keep medication in my cabin bag in case the hold bag goes astray. For batteries, e-cigarettes, aerosols and anything else unusual, check easyJet’s restricted items list before you pack, as it changes.
