Easyjet Baggage Size – Underseat Case

Everyone flying with Easyjet gets an included under-seat luggage allowance.

As the name suggests this luggage must go under the seat in front of you.

This luggage must;

  • Include all the wheels and handles in the luggage dimensions
  • Fit in the gauge easily and without being forced at the Easyjet gate
  • Be the correct size when fully packed
  • Include all your luggage and personal items. (Only one bag is allowed per person – if you have a handbag it must be stowed inside this case)
  • Be stowed under the seat in front of you

If you want a larger luggage allowance then you will need to pay extra.

Easyjet Baggage Sizes – Overhead Locker Case (Cabin Bag)

If you pay extra you can also take a cabin bag on an Easyjet flight.

The size of the cabin bag is 56cm high x 45cm wide x 25cm deep.

This luggage must;

  • Include all the wheels and handles in the luggage dimensions
  • Be the correct size when fully packed
  • Be stored in the overhead locker during your flight
  • Weigh no more than 15kg

Whatever the weight you must be able to lift this luggage into the overhead locker yourself.

If you want to take a cabin bag (overhead locker bag) on Easyjet you will need to either;

  • Pay a Standard Plus fare which includes an upfront seat and speedy boarding as well
  • Pay to add a cabin bag when you are booking your flight

You can also add a cabin bag to your booking at a later date but this will always be more expensive than adding it during the initial booking

  • 32kg

Each passenger can take a maximum of 3 pieces of hold luggage.

The maximum a passenger can take is 3 x 32kg pieces of hold luggage.

You can take a mix of luggage sizes up to 3 cases in total.

Whatever the weight of the luggage the size must be no more than 275cm overall when the length, width and height dimensions are combined.

Sizes for Mobility Equipment

Passengers who need mobility aids can take up to two pieces of mobility equipment onto the plane with them.

There is no charge for these.

Mobility aids need to fit through the cabin door which is 1.7 metres high and 1.2 metres wide.

I would strongly advise requesting assistance if you need mobility aids as well as checking all the latest rules on the Easyjet website.

Medical Equipment Sizes

There are some size restrictions for medical items as follows;

Oxygen Cylinders

  • They must not exceed 56cm in length, with a maximum diameter of 25cm and they must not have a total weight of more than 5kg.
  • There is no cost to take oxygen cylinders on board (maximum 2 per passenger)

Other Medical Devices and Equipment

Easyjet allows you to take any medicines and medical equipment onboard that you need to have with you.

If you need gel packs or cooler bags to keep your medication cool these are permitted, as well as specialist food you need.

You can also take portable medical equipment as long as they are no larger than 56x45x25cm.

This applies to equipment such as;

  • CPAP machines
  • Nebulisers
  • TENS machines
  • Portable dialysis machines

I would strongly advise requesting assistance if you need to take any medical equipment or devices on board checking all the latest rules on the Easyjet website.

Sizes for Child Related Items

If you are travelling with a child under 5 you can take a changing bag.

The total size of the changing bag must be no larger than 45 cm high x 36 cm wide x 20 cm deep.

Children over 2 years old must have their own seat on Easyjet. They also have their own baggage allowance of 1 small underseat bag with a total size of 45 cm high x 36 cm wide x 20 cm deep.

Once a child is over 15 years old they are classed as an adult on Easyjet flights.

If you are travelling with children under 15 you can also take two of the following;

  • travel cot
  • pushchair
  • double pushchair
  • buggy
  • car seat
  • collapsible or non-collapsible pram
  • booster seat
  • baby back carrier.

There are no costs for these and no size restrictions either.

Musical Instruments Allowances

Instruments Smaller than 45 cm high x 36 cm wide x 20 cm deep

  • You can take your musical instrument in place of your under seat case.
  • This must be the total size including the case.
  • It must fit under the seat in front of you.

Instruments Larger than 45 cm high x 36 cm wide x 20 cm deep but Smaller than 30 cm x 117 cm long x 38 cm

  • You need to book an extra cabin bag.
  • Your musical instrument needs to fit in the overhead locker.
  • This must be the total size including the case.

Instruments Larger than 30 cm x 117 cm x 38 cm

These size instruments can travel as cabin luggage but you need to book an extra seat.

Before doing that check that the instrument meets the requirements – there are further height and width restrictions.

Before you book a seat you need to check the size requirements and restrictions. You can find these on the Easyjet website. This includes maximum width, height above the seat etc.

The dimensions apply to the overall size of the instrument case, not the instrument itself.

To add the musical instrument to your booking you add another person and then put their name as ‘Mr Musical Instrument’ – yes really!

Don’t assume that because you are booking an extra seat you get to bring an extra underseat bag/case – you don’t.

Baggage Sizes for Easyjet Hold Luggage

Whatever weight of hold luggage you are taking the total size, when all the measurements are combined, must be less than 275 cm.

That means when you add the length, the height and the width, the total must be less than 275 cm.

Easyjet Baggage Sizes Conclusion

  • If in doubt check with Easyjet about anything out of the ordinary such as sporting equipment and medical equipment
  • Double-check your baggage measurements (and weights) when your baggage is packed to ensure it meets all the Easyjet requirements
  • All the dimensions given for baggage sizes are outer measurements – any cases, covers, handles, wheels etc must be within these measurements
