How to Get to Valencia from the UK

There are several options for getting to Valencia from the UK.

The quickest is flying of course.

You can also take the train, travelling via the Eurotunnel from London.

There is also a Flix Bus network that you can take from most places in the UK over to France and then to Spain.

Which UK Airport Fly Direct to Valencia?

There are plenty of direct flights to Valencia from the UK.

Most of these offer low-cost flight options making Valencia a great value destination to visit.

  • Belfast
  • London
  • Nottingham
  • Birmingham
  • Edinburgh
  • Manchester
  • Bristol
  • London Gatwick
  • London Luton

London to Valencia Flight Time

The flight time is around 2 hours and 10 minutes depending which airport you fly from.

Valencia airport is around 8km away from the city of Valencia.

It’s a nice compact airport that is easy to navigate.

Once you reach Valencia airport you will need to travel from the airport to the city (see details further down this post).

Getting from London to Valencia by Train

According to the absolute oracle on all things rail travel, The Man in Seat61, the cheapest, simplest and fastest way to get to Valencia by train from the UK is via the Eurostar with an overnight stop in Barcelona or Paris en route.

As such the London to Valencia train journey comprises of a Eurostar, a TGV, a EuroMed and finally an intercity train.

There is also an option to take an overnight French sleeper train, which arrives in Barcelona, then you need to switch to a Euromed and an intercity train.

Finally, if you prefer to travel further on the ferry you can take the Portsmouth to Santander ferry. From Santander, you then travel to Madrid and then to Barcelona to get to Valencia.

The choice is yours.

You can find all the information you need on the marvellous Man in Seat61 website – be warned you could be there for a while as there are so many wonderful trips by rail.

It takes 2 days whichever route you take.

Getting from London to Valencia by Coach

You can take the FlixBus network to Valencia.

It takes around 37-39 hours depending on which service you use to travel from the UK to Valencia.

The route goes via the ferry and then to Paris, Lyon, down to Barcelona and then to Valencia.

You could of course build stops along the way to break up the journey.

Getting from Valencia Airport to The City

Getting from Valencia airport to the city couldn’t be easier.

There are two metro lines that connect the airport with the city centre – Line 3 and Line 5.

Here is the route map for the tram lines in Valencia.

You can also buy a Valencia card which includes unlimited tram, train and bus rides. For 1 adult for 24 hours it is 13.50 Euros. It’s a great value way to get around Valencia.

The metro station is on the ground floor of the terminal for regional flights.

Trams run every 15 or 20 minutes depending on the time of day.

You can also take a bus – the 150 Metrobus from the airport to the city. A one way ticket costs around 2 Euros.

As always there are taxis and transfers available from the airport. A taxi costs around 20 Euros.

How to Get to Valencia – Conclusion

  • There are lots of low-cost flight options from the UK to Valencia.
  • You can travel by train to Valencia via an overnight stop in Barcelona.
  • There is a bus which links the UK and Valencia and takes 37 hours or so.
