My Recommended Travel Resources
Where To Stay in Baku
I chose to stay outside of the main city centre, downtown area of Baku. I did this partly because of price and partly because I wanted to stay in a self catering apartment.
There were some challenges with staying where I did – this mainly involved finding my way there and back. However, these challenges were pretty minor and gave me a good insight into local life and some experiences I may not have had otherwise.
I paid 75 for 3 nights in a self catering apartment.
There are now a number of self catering apartments available to rent in this area of Baku.
Fairmont Hotel – Flame Towers Baku
The Fairmont Hotel in Baku is likely to be one of the most expensive stays in the city, but with good reason.
The hotel is located inside the Flame Towers, and what a hotel it is too!
It has a spa, 3 swimming pools, 5 restaurants and bars and beautiful well appointed rooms.
For the best views choose those with sea views. You will then enjoy fantastic views across the Caspian Sea and over the promenade area of Baku. It’s spectacular at any time of day, but even more so at night time.
The Flame Towers is also home to an IMAX cinema too!

Where to Stay in Baku
Intercontinental Hotel
The Intercontinental is another luxury option in Baku.
Rooms have all the mod cons you would expect from a luxury hotel. Public rooms are lovely, tastefully decorated and great for relaxing in after a busy day exploring.
The Intercontinental has a small swimming pool and a Turkish bath at the hotel as well.
The location is great. It’s within easy access of the promenade, the main square, the old town, the metro system and the shopping area of Baku. Everything is pretty much on the doorstep.

Grand Mirror Hotel
If you like to try more local hotels when you travel, rather than chains then you might like the Grand Mirror.
It’s in a great location – close to the promenade, the old town, the metro system and the new town. It’s very close to the Intercontinental hotel detailed above.
It offers spacious rooms and suites complete with everything you need such as tea and coffee making facilities, en-suite bathrooms and more.
Breakfast is included making the four star Grand Mirror even better value.
(When I say great value it’s fab – two nights in a one bedroom suite 75 in August 2025)

Grand Hotel Baku Park
If you love a bit of greenery and nature then the Grand Hotel Baku Park might be a great option for you.
As the name suggests it is located close to one of the parks in Baku.
The great thing is that the location means everything in the city centre is still within easy walking distance.
This hotel is ideal for exploring the city and also enjoying staying in a greenspace. (There is main road that runs close to one side of the hotel, but the bar and breakfast area look over the park).
Rooms are comfortable and spacious an this hotel has great reviews for it’s hospitality too.

Magnium Apartment
This lovely 2 bedroomed apartment is located on Nizami Street, a popular shopping street in Baku.
There are actually 3 bathrooms in the apartment, so there won’t be any queues.
There is use of an outdoor fireplace area as well, making this apartment ideal for evenings chatting around a fire.
There is also a small terrace at the apartment.
Rooms are spacious, with a large open plan living, dining and kitchen space.
There is a restaurant on site if you don’t fancy cooking, but if you do there is everything you need.
This apartment is in a great location and with sofa beds it can accommodate a larger group too.

Sea View Hotel Apartment
If I was going back to Baku this is where I would stay. It’s a beautiful self catering apartment in a great location in the city centre.
It has 3 lovely double bedrooms, a beautiful massage shower and a sea view.
The furnishings and decor are beautiful and it offers a very comfortable base for your visit to Baku.
It’s a little further out than the other places in the list but still within an easy walking distance.
The price for 2 nights in August 2025 is 75 making this apartment fantastic value.
(There are several apartments available in this building.)
