Membership Scheme and Pay As You Go Access

Whilst both of these schemes are membership schemes with yearly memberships available, Dragon Pass also offers pay-as-you-go lounge access through its website.

This means you can buy lounge access individually or a membership through the one website.

Priority Pass only offers lounge memberships through its website. It does offer pay-as-you-go lounge access through its sister site, Lounge Pass, but there are no links to that site from Priority Pass.

Dragon Pass

The costs below are for Dragon Pass pay-as-you-go access when purchased through their website.

If you were using their membership scheme then visit costs would vary depending on the level of membership you choose.

Classic members would pay £68 which includes 1 free visit and then £24 for each additional visit.

Preferential members would pay £21 per visit based on using all 8 entries included with membership.

North Terminal

  • Plaza Premium Lounge – £25.61 for 2-hour visit
  • No. 1 Lounge – £30.23 for a 3-hour visit (it does not state if this rate guarantees entry)
  • Clubrooms – £25.61 for a 3-hour visit (states there is a surcharge on top of this fee)
  • The Gateway – £30.23 for 3-hour visit

South Terminal

  • No. 1 – £30.23 for a 3-hour visit
  • My Lounge – £30.23 for a 3-hour visit

The prices shown above are for pay-as-you access booked through the Dragon Pass site.

Dragon Pass also shows the Aerospa as being a lounge available at both North and South Terminals. This is a 15-minute visit for £21.59 for a massage or nail file and polish. It is not really a lounge visit so I’ve not included it in the comparison.

Dragonpass vs Priority Pass – Which is Better?

The answer depends on your travel needs and requirements.

If you are planning to be travelling more in Europe and the Middle East then Priority Pass is likely to be a better option, although it’s worth checking lounges in the areas you plan to visit for more information.

In terms of cost, Dragon Pass looks like a better deal but again this depends on where you are planning to travel to.

If you are travelling in the UK frequently Priority Pass has access to the Aspire Lounge network which gives more lounge options.

Priority Pass gives the opportunity to pre-book lounges which are likely to be busy at peak times, which guarantees entry to Priority Pass members. This is particularly useful if travelling through London Gatwick, and London Heathrow and using busy lounges such as No. 1 Lounge.

Both Dragon Pass and Priority Pass offer other membership benefits such as meet and greet service and airport transfers. This comparison has just focussed on airport lounge access.
