How Much Does Easyjet Baggage Cost?
The cost of Easyjet baggage varies depending on the length of the flight, whether the luggage is in the cabin or the hold. For hold luggage the weight makes a difference to the charge.
You may think that the cost of a piece of luggage is the same whatever Easyjet flight you are taking but you would be wrong.
The cost of taking luggage varies depending on the length of your flight.
This is because the cost is related to the fuel costs for the flight and fuel costs are determined by the plane’s weight including all the passengers and their luggage.
Luggage on a longer-duration flight will cost more than a shorter-duration flight because more fuel will be needed to transport the luggage to the destination.
Easyjet also uses dynamic pricing when it comes to luggage costs.
Just as their flight pricing changes with demand i.e. the more demand for a flight the more the prices increase so their luggage does too.
As flights get busier the cost of taking luggage increases too.

What is the Cost of Easyjet Baggage?
The good news is that everyone gets one free piece of luggage on Easyjet.
The luggage needs to fit under the seat in front of you.
The size of this luggage is 45cm high by 36cm wide and 20cm deep.
Any luggage you take with you over and above this allowance is chargeable.
The cheapest way to add luggage is when you first book your flight.
If you have to log back in to add luggage it will cost more.

Now let’s compare two flights to the same destination to see the difference in flight costs.
One flight is for the 28th of December where there is high demand so fewer seats are available. The other flight is for the 8th of January where there are lots of empty seats at the time of checking prices.
| Inverness to London Luton 28th of December | Inverness to London Luton 8th January | |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Fare cost Includes 1 x Underseat Bag 45x36x20cm | 100.99 | 23.99 |

Sporting Equipment
You may not be aware but you can take sporting equipment on your flight.
Sporting equipment is also dynamically priced. This means the price will vary depending on the flight. These were the costs for an Inverness to London flight when I checked.
| Equipment | Cost |
|---|---|
| Bicyle | 45 |
| Canoe | 45 |
| Sports Firearm | 37 |
| Golf Bag | 37 |
| Hang Glider | 45 |
| Skis and Boots | 37 |
| Snowboard | 37 |
| Surfboard | 45 |
You can take other sporting equipment such as paragliding equipment, diving equipment and pole vaults up to 450cm.
I would highly recommend getting in touch with Easyjet ahead of taking any sporting equipment to check any size and weight restrictions.
