Spain is located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. It has a population of about 47 million people. The country covers around 505,990 square kilometers (195,360 square miles), making it the fourth-largest country in Europe. Spain’s landscape is diverse, featuring:
- 8,000 kilometers (4,970 miles) of coastline
- The Pyrenees Mountains in the north
- The Sierra Nevada in the south
- Expansive central plateaus (mesetas)
- The subtropical Canary Islands off Africa’s northwestern coast
Key Destinations
Here are some must-visit places in Spain:
