If you’re flying from London Gatwick you might be thinking of using the Clubrooms Gatwick South Terminal.

I’ve used this lounge and this review I’ll show you exactly what to expect, how to access it, what the food and facilities are like, and whether it’s good value for money.

I visited using my Priority Pass membership.

Where Are the Clubrooms & How Do You Access Them?

Location

The Clubrooms are located airside in Gatwick South Terminal on the first floor.

Head through security. Then go upstairs using the escalator and look for the lounge entrance between two stores – Clubrooms and No1 Lounge.

How To Buy Access to the Clubrooms Gatwick South Terminal

If you’re deciding how to enter, here’s the simple takeaway: Priority Pass is usually the best value if you’ll use lounges more than once or twice per year, while third-party passes can work well for one-off trips.

The Clubrooms area a paid entry lounge. This means you can access it whatever airline you are flying with and whatever type of class you are flying.

You can either;

• Buy access directly with Clubrooms – £52 per adult for a 3 hour stay
• Buy access through via my discount code at Holidayextras – £39.56 for 3 hours guaranteed entry
• Access via an airport lounges membership scheme such as DragonPass or Priority Pass. The cost to enter depends on your membership level.

This lounge accepts Priority Pass, which is usually the best value way to get access. My entry to this lounge cost me £20.60 (plus a £15 booking fee) as I used one of my included 10 visits with Standard Plus Membership.

Inside the Clubrooms – My Experience

When I visited the Clubrooms was very busy. The entrance to the lounge is shared with the No1 Lounge so it was quite a busy check in process.

The Clubrooms is set to the left from the reception area.

The lounge is very small – two rooms really. I needed a power socket so I was given a seat next to the bar area. The bar was at the entrance to the lounge which made for a strange layout.

The Clubrooms was also busy when I visited.

Inside the Clubrooms lounge you will find lots of low lounge seating with low tables – Clubrooms seems to love these tables but I don’t – they aren’t good for working or eating

Clubrooms provide guests for a full table service for meals and drinks.

There isn’t a fully tended bar – the lounge is far too small for that.

The toilets are unisex and they are also very busy as they are shared with the No1 Lounge next door. When I used this lounge the toilets were not great – mainly because there was pee on the floor (apologies to the lady waiting outside who heard me swear about this).

Drinks

Guests have access to:

• Hot drinks available from the coffee machine
• Some soft drinks and flavoured waters are available in the fridge for self service
• The bar provides a selection of alcoholic drinks
• Premium drinks such as Champagne or Prosecco are available for an extra charge

Cold Food

There is a small selection of cold food for guests to help themselves to;

• Lemon cake
• Chocolate brownies
• Shortbread
• Nuts
• Olives

Hot Food

It was afternoon when I visited so breakfast had finished.

There are a variety of dishes and specials available in the Clubrooms including;

• Mushrooms on sourdough
• Duck and pomegranate salad
• Soup of the day
• Roasted chicken breast
• Red lentil linguine
• Fish goujon sandwich
• Slow cooked beef in red wine
• Ratatouille bake
• Chicken linguine
• Nut roast
• Signature prawn cocktail

I had the nut roast which looked more like a savoury flapjack. Despite the appearance the taste was good.

This was my first visit to the Clubrooms so I didn’t realise that you could order more than one dish when visiting so I was bit shocked at the small portion.

Is the Clubrooms worth it with Priority Pass?

For most travellers, the answer to that is yes.

Here’s why:

• Walk-in price: +£52
• Priority Pass visit with Standard Plus Membership (and my discount) £20.60 plus an additonal fee of £15 to reserve this lounge making a visit cost £35.60.
• Food + drinks + comfort: Included

If you use this lounge just twice per year, Priority Pass often pays for itself.

For regular flyers, it’s one of the easiest ways to save money at Gatwick.

Clubrooms Gatwick South – Final Verdict

• This was my first visit to the Clubrooms and I wasn’t very impressed. It was noisy given my location right beside the bar and entrance (this was the only space available with a power socket).
• I find the majority of the seating in Clubrooms impractical for dining and also for working.
• If I had paid the full £50 per person to access this lounge I would have been quite disappointed – I didn’t think it was worth the £34.30 that I paid either to be honest. I would use the Club Aspire Lounge over the Clubrooms.
