England might be relatively small in size (you can drive from top to bottom in a day), but it packs a lot in.

Unique Counties and Local Flavors

Every county is different, often with:

  • Different dialects
  • Unique traditions
  • Local food varieties

A bread roll is a great example of this diversity. These are called various names depending on where you are from, including:

  • Barms
  • Baps
  • Cobs
  • Flatbreads

Changing Scenery

The countryside in England is hugely diverse. When I took Americans on tours around the UK, they often remarked on how quickly the scenery changed during one journey.

The Wonders of England

England has it all. There are fantastic cities to explore.

London: A City of History

London is one of my favorites. Even after living in Surrey and visiting regularly throughout my life, I still find something new every time I go. The history in London is rich. Every corner can tell an interesting story.

When I led tours around London, it was challenging to cover everything because there was so much to talk about. It often came down to leaving things out rather than including them!

York: A Charming Experience

Outside of London, I love York. There is a lot to see and do, and wandering around the streets is always enjoyable, especially in the oldest part of the city.

My Home County: Norfolk

My home county of Norfolk is wonderful and diverse. It features:

  • Flat fens
  • Beautiful sandy beaches
  • Lovely broads

It’s no wonder Norfolk is such a popular tourist destination.

The Lake District and Beyond

The Lake District is a very popular part of England, made famous by William Wordsworth, who was inspired by its scenery and nature. I also love the Peak District and charming towns like Buxton.

Conclusion

Wherever you go in England, you will find something interesting to see, something new to do, and something new to learn!
