3. Getting from Waverley Station to the Hotel

The easiest way to reach the hotel on foot is to take the escalators from Waverley Station to Princes Street. When you reach Princes Street turn right and walk past the entrance to the Balmoral Hotel.

At the corner turn right and walk over North Bridge.

When you reach the Radisson Blu Hotel (on the Royal Mile) turn left.

Continue down the Royal Mile until you reach the Worlds End pub. Turn right into St Mary’s Street and the Travelodge Central is on your right hand side.

5. Checking In

On entering from the street you will find reception in front of you. Lifts are to the left and you have to scan your key card to get through the door to the lifts.

10. What’s Nearby

The hotel is located just off the Royal Mile so all the city centre attractions are within easy reach.

On the same street as the hotel is Moo Pie Gelato and David Bann Vegetarian restaurant.

At the corner of the junction with the Royal Mile is The Worlds End pub.

There really is so much choice of things to do, and places to eat and drink nearby.

The Royal Mile is packed with things to explore – everything from Edinburgh Castle at the top of the Royal Mile, to Holyrood Palace and the Scottish Parliament at the bottom of the Royal Mile. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants including several interesting museums. The People’s Story and the Museum of Edinburgh are both free museums that tell the history of Edinburgh, and also the history of the people of Edinburgh.

11. Professional Traveller Summary

  • My room was near the top of the hotel and as such it was quite warm. This meant I needed the window open to cool the room but there was quite a bit of city noise.
  • I had dinner in the cafe area and it wasn’t very good quality – I would dine out if I stayed here again.
  • The location is great for exploring the Royal Mile and Edinburgh City Centre.
