The Holyrood Hotel is located close to Holyrood Palace, Dynamic Earth, and the Scottish Parliament.
It’s a quieter area of the Edinburgh city centre that also gives easy access to some lovely green areas including Arthurs Seat.

3. Getting from Edinburgh Waverley Station to the Holyrood Hotel
The easiest way to reach the hotel, especially if you have luggage, is to take the escalators from Waverley Station to Princes Street.
On Princes Street turn right at the top of the escalators and walk past the Balmoral Hotel.
At the junction by the Balmoral Hotel turn right and walk up the slight hill (crossing North Bridge).
When you come to the Radisson Blu Hotel turn left and walk down the Royal Mile.
Keep walking until you pass The People’s Story Museum on your left and the Museum of Edinburgh on right-hand side.
Turn right and walk down Crightons Close. The Holyrood Hotel is at the bottom of this close on your left-hand side. The first door is the entrance to the restaurant, the second is the entrance to the hotel.

The Royal Mile is a 2 or 3-minute walk from the hotel. The bottom end of the Royal Mile is much quieter than the top end near the Castle, and there are still plenty of things to enjoy.
The People’s Story and the Museum of Edinburgh are very close to the hotel. They are both free to visit and open most days. The People’s Story tells the cultural history of Edinburgh by sharing stories of ordinary folk and is well worth a visit.

11. Professional Traveller Summary
- The location is good giving easy access to the Royal Mile but also to green areas of Edinburgh such as Arthurs seat and quieter areas too.
- There was some noise at the hotel during my stay so perhaps even numbered rooms that are away from the event areas might be a better option.
- One of the lifts wasn’t working during my stay which meant some long waits to get downstairs when checking out with luggage.
- The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were larger than you might expect in a city centre hotel.
