Is everything free in an airport lounge?
Well the answer to that is – it depends!
Here is what is always free in an airport lounge;
- Better WIFI
- Snacks
- Drinks
- Comfier seating
- Quieter environment
Bear in mind that although these things are free, you will have had to pay a membership or fee to access the airport lounge in the first place.

Some lounges have hot snacks, hot meals, or buffets for lounge users. These are always free.
Is Everything Free in An Airport Lounge?
Drinks
Most drinks are free. Some lounges charge extra for premium drinks such as champagne or specially mixed cocktails.
Remember You Need to Pay to Access an Airport Lounge
You can either gain access to an airport lounge because you are flying on a business or a first-class ticket.
If you are travelling on an economy ticket you can either pay to access an airport lounge by booking directly, through a holiday website, or joining an airport lounge membership scheme.
Generally speaking for up to 6 airport lounge visits a year pay-as-you-go is going to be cheaper.

Airport Lounges Can Be Cheaper
If you are planning to eat a meal and drink alcohol at the airport before you fly then an airport lounge (providing it does hot meals/hot buffet) can work out cheaper than just eating and drinking in the airport.
If that’s the case then yes everything in an airport lounge is free because it costs the same as you were going to spend anyway!
Is Everything Free in An Airport Lounge? – Conclusion
- Most things are going to be free in an airport lounge (although of course, you have to pay to access the lounge!)
- If the lounge serves hot food then that can make it great value, and more so if you include a glass of wine or beer – it’s probably going to be cheaper/the same as eating in the airport.
- Remember not to overindulge in any alcohol – you still have to be fit to fly.
